GHF I GHF II 2-Phase Last Year

Groton House Farm hosts a number of different events throughout the year.

The New England Combined Training circuit comes to the farm every May for the Dressage and Two Phase competition. Come watch your favorite horses and riders compete in the Dressage and Stadium Jumping at this early-season non-rated competition. Join us on Saturday May 27, 2006

GHF I is the first weekend in the Horse Trials series of competitions. Traditionally, GHF I is one of the most challenging yet rewarding events for the Novice, Training, and Preliminary competitors from around New England. This year GHF I is scheduled for June 16th - 18th, 2006.

GHF II is the pinnacle of event riding in New England. The Groton House reputation is known by competitors from all over the globe and at the center of Eventing. In 1999, GHF II was part of the Canadian and American Pan American Games selection process. In 1996, GHF II was a mandatory stop for all Atlanta hopefuls. Scheduled for June 23rd - 25th, 2006, GHF II promises to be very exciting for spectators and competitors.

Additional Information:

What is the difference between the Groton House Horse Trials and a typical Three Day Event? Horse Trials and Three Day Events are extremely similar in that they typically take place over the course of three days. For both types, Friday is usually reserved for Dressage. Saturday is different for the two types of events, in that Three Day Events hold a Roads and Tracks phase, Steeplechase, and the Cross Country phase, whereas the Horse Trials only holds the Cross Country phase. The Sunday finale for both types of events is the Stadium Jumping phase.

What is Combined Training? Combined Training events consist of two phases: Dressage and Stadium Jumping. These two phases usually take place on the same day, with Dressage preceeding Stadium Jumping. Contact the US Eventing Association for more information.
