2009 GHF HT Results

Friday we had a threat of rain that never realized, and the promise of high humidity came true with a slight southerly breeze. Saturday was perfect for Cross Country, with cool winds and only a little fog. And, we lucked out for most of Sunday as well! The results of the Groton House Farm Horse Trials are shown below. There were some impressive rides this

weekend including Nicholas Hansen's ride on Grand Cru, who led the Junior Open Novice B division after Dressage with a 26.0, and went clean on Saturday and Sunday. Janet Read Memorial Trophy Winner Megan Correia-Bittner rode Anyway to the top of the Intermediate/Preliminary class, and held the lead through cross country and stadium to win with a score of 31.5. In the Junior Open Training division, Lauren Mair kept to her game plan on Hot Trot'n Twister, and her steady performance jumped her from 9th place after dressage into the winner's circle, where there was a Muffin Cup waiting for her. Congratulations!

Darrah Alexander, riding Twist of Fate was the winner of the 2009 Willowdale Trophy, awarded to the lowest-scoring Senior Open Novice rider. The team finished on their dressage with a score of 28.5. Congratulations!

For the second year in a row, 23-year-old Tank, owned and ridden by Abby Rolston, won the Windrush Farm Trophy, given to the oldest horse to finish in eighth place or above at GHF. Congratulations!!
