Groton House Farm could not take place without its volunteers, who sacrifice many hours and days helping to make GHF the best event in New England, and an example for the rest of the country. We are one of the few privately-run events left in the United States, and couldn't keep going without the endless help of our volunteer force, led by Gail Majauckas. We are very excited to honor our 2007 Volunteer of the Year award recipients for all of their assistance. They helped to make this 30th year such a success! Look for them wearing the gray GHF vest!
Stew Holt, joined the GHF team 2 years ago and has made a huge impact on getting things done. Father of a JON competitor Rebecca Lin, Stew jumped in 200%, taking on any task requested of him. He also led the Timing Team, assisted with Control, and even collected pinneys at the finish line. Thank you Stew for all of your hard work. We all appreciate it.
Ed Tam is the safety coordinator for the Groton House Farm horse trials. Ed has been a long-time eventing enthusiast, and joined the organizing committee several years ago. Ed makes sure that all of the riders compete safely, and is the conduit between the event and the Massachusetts emergency network. Thanks Ed for all of your help.
Chris Silva is familiar to everyone who has ever competed at Groton House Farm. He has been involved with the event for decades, as a master of all trades, builder of exemplary cross country jumps including the beautiful Irish Banks, and is ready to jump in at a moment's notice to solve any problem that needs fixing. Most of the beauty of the course can be attributed to Chris's handiwork. Thank you Chris!
Annie Eldridge epitomizes the competitor who gives back to the sport. Annie volunteers in many ways whenever possible to support the eventing community. Anyone who has read the GHF Program in recent years has enjoyed her essays reflecting upon the many aspects of life at the Groton House Farm Horse Trials. She serves as a great example to all competitors who love the sport.
Thanks also go out to the rest of the volunteers who help us each year. Whether as a fence judge, scheduler, shuttle driver, parking assistant, dressage test runner, or steward, each of you makes this the best event in New England. Thank you! We hope to see you in 2008!
